Day 1: It took all day to get this far. You are looking at the underside of the Butternut top of the dulcimer. The hollowed bottom of the fret board is visible in the long horizontal slots. The whitish notched strip glued along the edges is the flexible Poplar wood "kerf strip" that will hold the curved sides in place. The hourglass shaped "F" holes and slots were laser cut in advance. The work consisted mostly of precisely and carefully assembling the pre-made parts: Butternut sound board, Walnut/Hickory fret board, peg head, tailblock, and Poplar kerf strips.
